About this Page

Several Will Play For Food teammates are graduates from Cal State University Fullerton.  The school no longer sports a football team and the basketball team has not been to the big dance since 1977.  However, baseball is alive and well at CSUF and the tradition towards championship baseball goes all the way back to the my first semester in 1979 when they won the 1st of many College World Series championships.  GO TITANS!!!

Team Effort

One of the most amazing turnarounds of all time.  After starting 15-16  then finished the season with a 32-6 run for a combined record of 47-22.

Individual Honors

Natioinal Coach of the Year --  Coach George Horton
George Horton is also the 9th person to be in the CWS as both a player and a coach

Johnny Bench Award  --  Kirk SuzukI
Kirk was named the 2004 Brooks Wallace National Player of the Year.
Kirk was voted to the All American team by everyone except Sports Weekly.  A big thumbs down to that rag of a newspaper.  They should change their name to Sports "Weakly".
